Guide To Buying Pre-Loved

Guide To Buying A Pre-Loved Machine

The decision to buy a pre-loved sewing machine is a meaningful step towards sustainable sewing.

The practice of sustainable sewing has gained significant traction in recent years, driven by a growing awareness of environmental issues and the desire for more responsible consumption. One effective way to contribute to this movement is by purchasing pre-loved sewing machines. This approach not only supports sustainability but also offers a range of benefits for both the consumer and the environment.

Our pre-owned machines are expertly refurbished, ensuring they meet high standards of reliability and performance. They are fully serviced and include a warranty.

The longevity of sewing machines contributes to sustainability. A well-maintained pre-loved machine can last for decades, significantly outpacing the lifespan of many fast-fashion items. By investing in a durable sewing machine, consumers can create garments and projects that are not only unique but also designed to last, further reducing the need for frequent replacements.

It aligns with the principles of reducing waste and promoting affordability. As the sewing community continues to grow, embracing pre-owned equipment can lead to a more sustainable future, where creativity and environmental responsibility coexist harmoniously.

How Do We Decide What To Sell?

First and foremost, it is crucial to assess the condition of the machine. A thorough inspection is carried out including checking for any signs of wear and tear, such as rust, corrosion, or damage to the body and components. Machines that have been regularly serviced are more likely to function optimally, and you should consider this for the future of your machine.

Included Warranty

All listed machines state the length of time the machine is under warranty for. This warranty is provided by Pre-Loved Sewing Machines and not by the manufacturers. Warranties provided do not cover issues created by the user. The warranty does not cover element including needle threaders, damaged bobbin cases, needle plate damage or light bulbs.

If you experience any issues with your Pre-Loved Machine please contact us so we can discuss and arrange the next step. If your machine is outside of the warranty period we are able to help in any possible repairs needed. You can view more details about our Servicing and Repairs.

How Will The Machine Be Sent?

Vintage and Collectable Machines

Purchasing a pre-loved vintage sewing machine can be a rewarding experience, both financially and creatively. Vintage machines often come with unique features and craftsmanship that may not be found in contemporary models. However, it is essential to approach this process with a clear understanding of what to look for to ensure a wise investment. That is why we hand select each model to ensure it meets a high enough standard for selling.

Vintage machines are from a time period before the creation of modern day materials. Older vintage machines often only come with a straight stitch option. It is important to consider what type of projects you are planning on making with your machine, for example a vintage machine may not be ideal for sewing modern stretch fabrics such as swimwear.

What is the condition of Vintage Machines?

All vintage and collectable machines are in a condition that is consistent with their age. The images listed are for the machine itself.

Whilst ever care is taken to ensure a vintage machine is operational , due to their age , sometimes we are unable to estimate how long an older machine will last for. With proper use and care older machines can go on for a long time , however in some cases if replacement parts are require they may not be able to be sourced. We will always try our best to save older machines and get them up and running again.

Are Vintage Machines Safe To Use?

Before we list an item for sale we run it through electrical safety testing to ensure that it is safe to use by the operator. All vintage machines are fitted with a brand new UK plug as standard.
